About iBasso AMP16

The iBasso AMP16 brings flexible amplification straight to the DX340 player. Users can switch between solid Class AB performance and warm tube sound without removing any modules. This design delivers two completely different listening experiences in a single compact card. The benefit appears in everyday use when someone wants clean power for analytical listening one moment and rich harmonics the next.

Class AB mode on the AMP16 pushes impressive output levels through both the 4.4mm balanced and 3.5mm single-ended ports. With 12V DC-IN the balanced connection reaches 2000mW per channel at 32 ohms while the single-ended side delivers 500mW. Battery operation still provides strong 1000mW balanced and 260mW single-ended figures. Listeners gain the ability to drive demanding headphones with authority and enjoy tight dynamics plus excellent separation in this mode.

Tube mode activates the dual Raytheon JAN6418 vacuum tubes for a different character. The balanced output then supplies 1500mW at 32 ohms with DC power and the single-ended side offers 400mW. A dedicated 22.5V anode voltage keeps the tubes stable. This setting adds natural warmth and smooth midrange texture that makes vocals and instruments feel more alive and engaging during long listening sessions.

Technical measurements stay strong across both modes. Frequency response covers 10Hz to 40kHz within plus or minus 0.5dB. SNR and dynamic range hit 122dB while crosstalk measures minus 120dB in Class AB. The 100-step JRC volume control helps keep background noise low even when tubes are active. Users benefit from consistent high-fidelity results whether they choose neutral precision or harmonic richness.

The AMP16 also includes a 12V DC-IN port that boosts overall performance closer to desktop levels. Four TI OPAMPs and four BUF634A buffers support the hybrid circuit. This combination lets the card handle everything from sensitive IEMs to power-hungry over-ear headphones with ease. The result is greater versatility and enjoyment for anyone who owns the compatible player.

Really love how this amp card changes the whole listening experience on my player. Tube mode brings warm mids that make vocals stand out beautifully while balanced output drives my headphones with plenty of headroom. Switching to AB mode gives tighter bass and clearer details for electronic tracks. Feels like having two great amps in one.

Power from the balanced port surprised me during long sessions with demanding cans. The DC input option pushes everything closer to desktop levels and the sound stays controlled. Tube warmth adds nice body without losing resolution. Great upgrade that keeps things fun and musical.

Details pop nicely in AB mode and the frequency response covers everything I throw at it. Tube mode softens the edges in a pleasant way for acoustic music. Volume control works smoothly and the dual outputs give me flexibility with different gear. Super happy with the performance every day.
